Lenovo unveils the 64-bit Tab S8 Android slate and Y70 Touch gaming laptop ahead of IFA

Lenovo has expanded its portfolio of Android tablets with the Tab S8 slate, which it will be showcasing at IFA 2014 in Berlin this week. It is the company’s first Android slate with an Intel processor (until now the vendor has only used Intel CPUs in its Windows powered tablets). The tablet features a 64-bit Intel chipset and will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat initially, so you won’t be able make full use of its 64-bit SoC until the Android L update arrives. It will be retailing in the market for $199 before taxes, which roughly converts into Rs 12,000.

Specifications wise, the Lenovo Tab S8 flaunts an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 283ppi. The Intel processor on board is a quad-core Atom Z3745, paired with 2GB of RAM. The slate comes with 16GB of internal storage. It has an 8MP primary camera with f2.2 aperture and a 1.6MP front shooter for video calling. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, while 4G LTE is offered as an optional upgrade.

Lenovo Y17 Touch

In addition to the Tab S8 tablet, the company has also announced its new gaming laptop, the Y70 Touch for $1,299. The Y70 comes with a 17.3-inch touch screen display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. It will be available with up to a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, up to 16GB of RAM and SSDs ranging between 256GB to 1TB.
