Lenovo ThinkPhone by Motorola with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, military-grade certification launched

After several leaks, rumours, and tease, Lenovo ThinkPhone by Motorola, the company’s first smartphone in the ThinkPhone series, was officially launched at CES 2023 in Las Vegas on Thursday. The smartphone is said to be business-grade and packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.

Interestingly, the phone is MIL STD 810H certified, which essentially means it’s quite durable and can withstand harsh environmental conditions. It has Think 2 Think connectivity, supported by Ready For, a collection of productivity tools that enables business end users to enjoy device integration between a ThinkPhone and a ThinkPad.

Lenovo Motorola ThinkPhone availability

According to the company, in the upcoming months, the smartphone will be available in the US, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Australia, and a few countries in Asia. The company hasn’t disclosed the price of the smartphone but users can connect with their local customer representative for price information. The smartphone’s India price and availability are not known yet either.

The smartphone has a large body with a textured back panel that curves into its frame, giving it a rugged look. It is made with aircraft-grade aluminium and can withstand drops up to 1.25 metres. The word “ThinkPhone by Motorola” is engraved at the bottom right of the rear panel, which also features a triple rear camera setup in the top left corner. The smartphone’s front panel has a punch-hole display placed at the top. The volume and power keys are placed on the right edge, and a Red button is on the left. According to the company, the Red Key on the left side offers one-touch access to the Walkie Talkie app through Microsoft Teams.

Lenovo Motorola ThinkPhone specifications

The Mototrola ThinkPhone will sport a 6.6-inch FHD+ display and a 144Hz refresh rate. The smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The company hasn’t disclosed the exact battery details but claims it will offer up to 36 hours of battery life. However, it is said to be 5,000mAh with wired and wireless fast charging support. The company has confirmed the ThinkPhone comes with a 68W charger in the box.

It will come equipped with a 50MP Ultra Pixel camera, and the rest of the sensors are said to be a 13MP camera and a 2MP at the rear. There might be a 32MP camera in the front for selfies. The ThinkPhone has IP68 certification and should be able to withstand dust and water immersion with a depth of up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. In terms of connectivity, the phone is equipped with 5G technology and Wi-Fi 6E compatibility.
