“The Z2 Plus sports up to 64GB of storage, 13MP/8MP cameras and a USB Type-C port”
Last year, Lenovo introduced its sub-brand called ZUK in China with the launch of the ZUK Z1 (review) smartphone. In May, the company launched the ZUK Z1 in India, and in the same month, unveiled its successor called the ZUK Z2 in China. At an event in India today, the vendor has launched the ZUK Z2 in India as the Lenovo Z2 Plus.
The Lenovo Z2 Plus is a flagship smartphone featuring a fibre glass frame and a metal back with a layer of glass. The phone sports a U-Touch 2.0 fingerprint sensor embedded into the home key, which can unlock the device in just 0.1 seconds. The U-Touch 2.0 button can also be configured to trigger different functions of the phone. It features a 5-inch full HD LTPS 2.5D curved display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.15GHz. The device comes in two configurations – one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and the other with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Unfortunately, none of these variants support memory expansion via a microSD card.
The camera department on the Z2 Plus includes a 13-megapixel primary snapper with an LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, 5P lens, 4K, slow-mo and Time Lapse video recording support, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), CAF dual-mode focus, and electronic image stabilisation (EIS). The selfies are captured by an 8-megapixel front-facing camera that gets a 78.9-degree wide viewing angle lens. In terms of connectivity, it offers 4G with VoLTE support, dual-SIM slots, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, a USB Type-C port, and GPS. A 3,500mAh battery keeps the phone alive and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 tech is supported. The phone comes with a dedicator pedometer, accelerometer and gyroscopes sensors, and the U-Health application that automatically keeps a track of your various fitness activities.
Software-wise, the Lenovo Z2 Plus boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow with ZUI 2.0 on top. The phone comes in two colour options – Black and White. Its 3GB/ 32GB variant has been priced at Rs 17,999, while the higher-specced 4GB/ 64GB edition will set you back by Rs 19,999. The device will be exclusively available on Amazon India starting September 25th. The brand has also launched a few accessories for the phone, including the Chrono Case, Skullcandy Ando, and Stealth Case, which are priced at Rs 1,299, Rs 1,299 and Rs 699 respectively.
