“The LG G8X is expected to be the brand’s first smartphone to offer an under-display fingerprint sensor”
LG G8X smartphone’s alleged 5K renders and a 360-degree video has been leaked on the interwebs ahead of the launch. They have been leaked by PriceBaba in collaboration with the popular gadget tipster @OnLeaks. The LG G8X’s 5K renders have revealed the design of the smartphone from all angles, which have revealed a few features of the upcoming handset. The LG G8X will arrive as the successor to the LG G8 ThinQ, which was unveiled at MWC in February. As can be seen in the renders, the upcoming LG handset will come with the glass back panel and a horizontally-aligned dual primary camera setup at the back, just like its predecessor.
LG G8X specifications
As you can see from the images, the LG G8X will come with a waterdrop notch above the screen, which will be an upgrade over the G8’s wider notch design. The smartphone’s display will diagonally measure around 6.2-inches. The handset will have slim bezels on either side of the screen, and a slim chin. The overall dimensions of the device are 159.3 x 75.8 x 8.5mm, suggests the source. In the images, the LG G8X doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor at the rear, so it’s likely to be placed under the screen, making it the first phone from the brand to offer this tech.
Furthermore, the images suggest that the LG G8X’s power button will be placed on the right side, while the left side will have the volume rocker and another physical button, which is expected to trigger the Google Assistant. The SIM card tray will be placed on top, while the bottom edge will have the speaker grill, USB Type-C port, and the 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone is expected to utilise LG’s Crystal Sound OLED speaker, which vibrates the display to produce sound.
As for the specs, the LG G8X is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 or Snapdragon 855+ processor. The smartphone is said to have a resolution of QHD. The device is expected to be unveiled at some point at IFA 2019, which is all set to kick off from August 31st.
