LG V30 to feature f/1.6 aperture, the largest on any smartphone camera

“The LG V30 will feature a 6-inch FullVision 18:9 display and Snapdragon 835 SoC”

After confirming that the LG V30 will be arriving on August 31st, LG has now gone ahead and revealed details regarding the flagship’s camera. LG V30 Crystal Clear Lens

LG has mentioned that the one of the dual cameras on the rear panel of the upcoming handset will have an aperture size of f/1.6, which is the largest in the industry as of now. To put things into perspective, larger the aperture size, more light is taken in by the camera module and as a result, you get clearer pictures with less noise. According to the brand, the new camera is designed to allow 25 percent more light than the f/1.8 aperture found on its predecessor LG V20  (review). The South Korean brand also mentions that the camera module this time around has ‘Crystal Clear’ lens, which is glass, unlike other camera modules that are plastic. This, combined with the aperture size, results in accurate colour reproduction according to LG.

For the uninitiated, the upcoming smartphone is expected to come with a 6-inch FullVision QHD+ P-OLED display that will boast the same 18:9 aspect ratio and bezel-less form factor as LG G6 (review). This time around, the brand has ditched the secondary display, which was the mainstay of LG V20. On the hardware front, the device will flaunt Snapdragon 835 SoC mated to 6GB RAM.

The pricing and availability of the upcoming flagship is yet to be known but we can expect it to be in the same price bracket as LG G6. We can also expect the LG V30 to arrive in India, soon after the global reveal at the IFA tradeshow in Berlin.
