LG Velvet 5G design and key specifications revealed in teaser video

LG Velvet 5G is expected to launch in May in South Korea

LG Velvet 5G smartphone complete design and key specifications have been revealed via a new official teaser video from the company. The handset was recently confirmed to be in the works and is expected to launch very soon. The LG Velvet teaser video shows the smartphone will have a tiny waterdrop at the front to accommodate the selfie snapper and a 3D arc design, where the edges of the front and rear are symmetrically curved. It has a cascading triple camera setup at the back, which LG is calling “Raindrop” camera. 

Interestingly, despite the slim profile, LG Velvet 5G retains the 3.5mm audio jack, which is its key selling point for LG phones thanks to the DAC codec support  The volume rocker and power button are on the left spine, while the SIM card tray and secondary microphone are at the top. The USB Type-C port and speaker grills are at the bottom. The LG Velvet 5G will be available in black, white, green, and an orange and pink hybrid colour options. The teaser also confirms the LG Velvet 5G will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC and not the Snapdragon 865. The handset is expected to go official sometime in May in South Korea, so we should know more information soon.

Speaking of unique designs, LG had recently filed a patent for a rollable smartphone. The display rolls out from the right side to offer a tablet-like screen. The company is using motors for free motion. Additionally, it even allows you to open a portion of the screen to perform quick operations. The outside portion of the display can surface time and app notifications. It has a single camera at the top along with the main earpiece and there is Stylus support as well.
