- Meesho user got potatoes instead of a DJI drone that he had ordered
- Video shows a delivery agent unboxing suspicious box with potatoes inside
- Meesho has said that a refund has been issued and it is investigating the matter
We’ve heard of numerous incidents in the past of online orders going wrong and people getting something completely different from what they’d ordered. In the latest such happening, a Meesho user from Bihar has claimed he got a bunch of potatoes in place of a DJI drone that he’d ordered from the e-commerce site.
According to reports, Chetan Kumar, a businessman from Bihar, ordered a DJI drone from Meesho, but instead got a box loaded with potatoes. The affected user also took a video which shows the delivery agent opening the box, to find potatoes in it instead of the drone that he had ordered.
The video, posted on a Twitter handle named ‘UnSeen India,’ shows that Kumar found the package “suspicious” the moment it arrived, and hence asked the delivery executive to unbox the package, which had potatoes inside.
The delivery executive, who is surrounded by locals, also admits that Meesho was involved in the “fraud”. There is no police complaint yet on the incident.
Meesho, the e-commerce platform, told India Today that it has initiated a refund to the customer and is further investigating the matter. “As a user-first company, ensuring great customer experience is one of our key priorities at Meesho. Any incident that affects customer trust is taken very seriously and we take prompt remedial action. After verifying the details of the incident, the customer service team immediately initiated a refund. We are investigating this matter further and we will take appropriate actions,” Meesho was quoted in the report as saying.
This comes at a time when Flipkart is already facing flak over failed iPhone 13 orders during the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale. More recently, an IIM student reported that he received bars of soap instead of a laptop that he had ordered.
Flipkart is also under fire from users who ordered the iPhone 13 during the Flipkart Big Billion Days but got their orders cancelled after a couple of days. After a slew of complaints from users, Flipkart said in a statement that several users in certain regions had their orders cancelled due to some “anomalies.”
