They promise several improvements over their predecessors, and that’s what we’ll be talking about in this article.

Powerful and efficient performance

Both Dimensity 930 and 1050 are based on the TSMC N6 6nm class process, which makes them powerful, yet power-efficient. The Dimensity 930 has two ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz, while the MediaTek Dimensity 1050 has two ARM Cortex-A78 at up to 2.5GHz. The remaining six cores on both the chipsets are Cortex-A55 that are meant for standard, day-to-day tasks.

On MediaTek Dimensity 930, a speedy CPU and an impressive new IMG BXM-8-256 GPU accelerates apps, webpages, media streaming, and provides faster FPS while playing games. MediaTek Dimensity 1050 on the other hand, goes a step further. It offers best-in-class hardware that accelerates apps, gives snappier streams, and faster frame rates in games with the powerful CPU and the latest ARM Mali-G610 graphics processor.

Both silicon also supports UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 memory, promising smoother performance, and multitasking capabilities.

Smooth gaming with MediaTek HyperEngine

As with previous chipsets from the brand, the new SoCs come with the famed MediaTek HyperEngine technology. The MediaTek Dimensity 930 features support for MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 Lite that boosts networking performance along with ensuring smooth gameplay without any jitter, while optimising battery life. This also supports a networking engine that offers 5G call and data concurrency, so you can game on SIM 1, and receive calls on SIM 2. Furthermore, Intelligent Resource Management Engine maximises battery life with high FPS power-saving and Wi-Fi power saving.

MediaTek Dimensity 1050 offers the latest MediaTek HyperEngine 5.0 technology. This can boost the whole smartphone performance and let you game for sustained periods. The tech offers CPU and GPU optimizations as well as exclusive features like AI-based Variable Rate Shading (AI-VRS), resulting in a smoother and more realistic gaming experience. Apart from this, it supports MediaTek Intelligent Display Sync tech that optimises Wi-Fi and 5G networks to make sure better low-latency connections.

Seamless, high-speed connectivity

MediaTek Dimensity 930 and 1050 SoCs come with an advanced built-in 5G modem that combines low and mid-band advantages for faster and seamless speeds.

If we talk about MediaTek Dimensity 930, it supports 2CC / 120MHz carrier aggregation with mixed duplex FDD + TDD features and can offer up to 2.77Gbps downlink speeds. It also offers a Dual 5G SIM (5G SA + 5G SA) with a Dual VoNR feature. There’s support for Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 too.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1050 is the first chipset from the brand that can support both sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G bands. It can also support more 5G connections with 3CC / 200MHz carrier aggregation, with impressive peak speeds of up to 4.6Gbps. This results in faster average speeds and greater coverage in comparison. This chipset also comes with the latest Wi-Fi 6E 2×2 (2.4/5/6GHz) and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity.

Super-fast displays with vibrant colours

Coming to the visuals, MediaTek Dimensity 930 supports extremely smooth full HD+ displays with a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s also compatible with HDR10+ video. Apart from this, it ships with MediaTek MiraVision Smart Contrast and Local Tone Mapping (SCLTM) engine that enhances video streaming quality in real time.

MediaTek Dimensity 1050 can also power full HD+ displays, with support for a higher screen refresh rate of up to 144Hz. The chipset also natively supports a billion (10-bit) colours so you can enjoy the super-fast displays with vivid output. Moreover, this chip supports HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR-vivid, and Dolby Vision MediaTek Intelligent Display Sync, which also improves the overall power efficiency of a faster display along with providing an immersive viewing experience.

Enhanced imaging performance

For photography and videography, the MediaTek Dimensity 930 can support up to 108MP cameras. It also ensures better and clearer low-light captures with the built-in noise reduction engines for photos (MFNR) and videos (3DNR). In addition, the chip offers up to 27 percent faster low-light photos and up to 5X faster AI Face Detection, as well as sharper video capture with DSDN 3.0 technology.

MediaTek Dimensity 1050 also offers many new features in terms of imaging, including the Imagiq 760 ISP with support for up to 108MP main camera. It lets you stream both front and rear cameras together, allowing one to capture the video from the main shooter and your reaction at the same time. This also comes with a dual HDR video capture engine. Additionally, it has excellent noise reduction for better low-light photography and MediaTek APU 550 support for improved AI capabilities.
