Xiaomi is preparing to launch a premium tablet, dubbed as Mi Pad 5, probably in China first and eventually in other markets. Now, the tablet’s render, battery details, and launch timeline details have surfaced online. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 specifications are said to include a 2K LCD display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2560×1600 pixels resolution. Mi Pad 5 has been certified for network access, which reveals it will pack a 4,260mAh battery, which could be a dual-cell battery. It is said to be available in two variants: Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro. The former is tipped to come with Snapdragon 870 SoC, while the latter is expected to arrive with MediaTek Dimensity SoC.

The Mi Pad 5 launch date hasn’t been revealed but the tablet is expected to launch sometime later this month. This means we can expect the brand to start teasing it in the next few days. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Snapdragon 870 version’s price is said to be RMB 3,000 (around Rs 34,200).

The Mi Pad 5 render shows it’ll have a square camera module on the back with dual cameras, an LED flash and Xiaomi branding. On the front, it has sizeable bezels and a selfie camera module above the screen. The tablet will be available in at least a White colour option, but there could be other colours at launch.

Mi Pad 5 is said to sport a 10.95-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Pro model may get a 144Hz screen. The tablets are tipped to get 16:10 aspect ratio, 4096-level touch, and In-Cell active pen technology. It will boot MIUI for Pad that is specifically designed for Xiaomi tablets. It will have support for handheld PC mode and offer interesting features such as classic start menu, control centre, multiwindow, among others. It is said to measure 8.13mm and weigh 519 grams. The tablet will use aluminium alloy material much like the iPad and the fingerprint sensor will be placed on the side. As for the optics, the Mi Pad 5 is said to feature a dual-camera setup, with a 20MP primary sensor and a 13MP secondary lens.
