Micromax In 1 price in India and specifications were announced on Friday. The smartphone sits in between the more affordable Micromax In 1b and the more advanced Micromax In Note 1 in the brand’s In lineup of smartphones. With a starting price of Rs 10,499, the Micromax In 1 competes directly with the Redmi 9 Power, which costs Rs 10,499 for the base variant as well. Currently, the Redmi 9 Power is the best, if not, one of the best smartphones in its price segment. Now, the question is, which smartphone should you buy between the Micromax In 1 and the Redmi 9 Power. Well, let us compare their specifications and find out the answer.

The Micromax In 1, as I said earlier, starts at Rs 10,499. This is for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. The smartphone is also available in 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version and it costs Rs 11,999. However, as an introductory offer, Micromax is offering the In 1 in India for Rs 9,999 and Rs 11,499 respectively in its first sale, which is scheduled for 26th March, 2021 at 12:00 PM IST.

The Redmi 9 Power is also priced at Rs 10,499 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. The next option is the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage; it costs Rs 11,999. The smartphone is also available in 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option, just like the Micromax In 1, but priced a little more expensive at Rs 12,999.

As you can see, the Micromax In 1 and the Redmi 9 Power costs the same for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. However, the Micromax In 1 takes the lead when it comes to 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option as it is Rs 1,000 cheaper than the Redmi 9 Power.

Let us discuss about the Micromax In 1 first. The Micromax In 1 features a 6.67-inch IPS LCD with FHD+ resolution and 440 nits of brightness. The display surprisingly has a center punch-hole; something that is usually found in mid-range and high-end smartphones. Unfortunately though, the display lacks any kind of scratch or accidental protection from a known brand. The smartphone has a polycarbonate shell with a plastic back panel.

Moving on to the imaging of the smartphone, the Micromax In 1 features a 48MP primary camera that has PDAF and f/1.79 aperture. There are two more cameras at the rear, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro camera. For selfies, you get an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. The rear as well as the front cameras support night mode for brighter images in lowlight conditions. 

The Micromax In 1 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 SoC featuring 12nm fabrication process, 2x Cortex-A75 and 6x Cortex-A55 CPU cores, and Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. This chipset is quite powerful for the price of the smartphone. As mentioned earlier, it can be had in 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB memory configurations. On the software front, the Micromax In 1 features Android 10 OS. 

The smartphone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging and it also supports reverse charging. Connectivity options of the device include dual-SIM 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v5,0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port. In terms of security and privacy, the device has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Coming to the Redmi 9 Power, it has a 6.53-inch display with FHD+ resolution, 400 nits brightness, and a V-shaped notch. Fortunately, the display has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, unlike the Micromax In 1. Just like its competitor, the Redmi 9 Power features a polycarbonate shell with a plastic back panel.

The Redmi 9 Power features a more advanced camera setup at the rear compared to the Micromax In 1. It has a 48MP primary camera and two 2MP sensors for depth and macro shots, just like the Micromax In 1. However, it also has an 8MP ultrawide camera with 120-degree FoV, which is something that its competitor lacks. Selfies are taken care of by an 8MP sensor.

The Redmi 9 Power is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor. This chipset is made on 11nm manufacturing process and features 4x Kryo 260 Gold and 4x Kryo 260 Silver CPU cores, and Adreno 610 GPU. This performance of this SoC is similar to that of the Helio G80 in the Micromax In 1. The smartphone is available in 4GB+64GB, 4GB+128GB, and 6GB+128GB memory options. The smartphone runs on the Android 10 OS with MIUI 12 customization.

The Redmi 9 Power features a 6,000mAh battery, which is significantly larger than the 5,000mAh unit that is in the Micromax In 1. It features 18W fast charging and reverse charging option. The Redmi 9 Power has dual-SIM 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port. The Redmi 9 Power has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The smartphone comes with stereo speakers which is a great feature for the price of the device. The Redmi 9 Power also has a dedicated microSD card slot, which, the Micromax In 1 misses out on.

Micromax In 1 vs Redmi 9 Power: Conclusion

The Redmi 9 Power has five advantages over the Micromax In 1; Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 8MP ultrawide camera, a dedicated microSD card slot, larger battery size, and stereo speakers. Whereas, the Micromax In 1 only has two advantages over the Redmi 9 Power; the center punch-hole display and a lower price tag for the 6GB+128GB variant.

There is no doubt that the Redmi 9 Power is a superior smartphone compared to the Micromax In 1 as it offers more useful features, And it is the smartphone that you should buy between the both. That being said, the Micromax In 1 isn’t a bad device from any angle. It might not be as value for money as the Redmi 9 Power but it still is a decent device for the price.
