Microsoft earlier today reported an issue that was affecting its various apps and services. The issue has been fixed now but the outage ran for hours and affected users worldwide. A major outcome of the Microsoft outage was disrupting airline services with one US company even cancelling some flights.
Microsoft outage affects users globally
Microsoft’s cloud services outage affected low-cost airline carriers in the US. The outage caused Frontier Airlines to ground and cancel several flights, according to a report by Reuters. The reason behind this was the Microsoft outage which halted the airlines’ services temporarily. A total of 147 flights were cancelled and 212 more delayed, the report added.
Microsoft Windows users also reported the outage caused their laptops to crash suddenly with some even seeing the infamous blue screen of death (BSOD).

My two Windows computers crashed with a blue screen and got stuck in a boot loop in the last hour. Checking Google Trends, it seems I’m not the only one experiencing this. pic.twitter.com/wsBHxGejNN

With corporates around the globe using Microsoft services, the outage seems to have affected several users. The issue seems to be fixed now with Microsoft services up and running again. The outage did run for around seven hours though so companies that are completely dependent on Microsoft services faced the consequences.
Microsoft through its 365 Status account on X had reported early this morning about its apps and services facing issues. It then posted updates saying that they’re rerouting the impacted traffic to alternate systems. If you check the Microsoft service status website now, it shows that all issues have been resolved and all its services have been restored.
