Microsoft is reportedly selling its Nokia feature phone business to Foxconn

According to a fresh report from China, Microsoft is planning to sell its Nokia feature phone business to the manufacturing giant Foxconn, which has a license to the brand name until 2024. Microsoft’s plan to sell the business comes soon after it reported a 46 percent drop in phone sales revenue.

Microsoft acquired Nokia’s feature phone business in 2014. The company is now scaling back on its mobile hardware business production. The brand has only produced four Lumia smartphones running Windows 10 – the Lumia 550, Lumia 950Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 650. The Lumia 650 is expected to be the last Lumia-branded smartphone. In the meanwhile, Microsoft is expected to unveil the Surface Phone in early 2017.
