The MIUI 14 Indian version is set to launch in the country on February 27th. We can expect the rollout of the custom layer to the Xiaomi line of phones over the course of the next few months, probably starting with top-end models. Xiaomi 13 Pro is releasing on February 26th, and we can expect it to come with MIUI 14 out of the box. Xiaomi has said MIUI 14 will give users an India-exclusive experience, but has not revealed any specifics or the stable update rollout timeline.
MIUI 14 is already present on POCO X5 Pro which debuted in India earlier this month. The new Xiaomi custom skin originally launched in December and comes as a follow-up to the MIUI 13, which is currently present on most Xiaomi/Redmi phones.
MIUI 14 is claimed to make the system lighter than before. This also includes system simplification with ultra-small firmware and memory usage. The update also reduces the number of applications that cannot be uninstalled to just eight.
MIUI 14 features
MIUI 14 also adds application cleaning that saves only one copy of duplicate files and compresses low-frequency applications. The update also adds improvements to notification management. There is a new MIUI photon engine that operates under the Android kernel and opens the capability of third-party application developers. The fluency of the system is vastly improved in high-load scenarios.
The energy consumption of third-party applications has increased by up to 22 percent. The information flow is smooth and brings more power-saving. This also lets more developers access the MIUI photon engine. MIUI 14 has a richer and more personalised visual experience. Xiaomi also offers 4 sizes for each icon, thereby making the home screen more interesting. Users can add interactive flowers and pets on the home screen, bringing them to life.
MIUI 14 brings new family service functions. Family accounts allow up to 9 people so that they can share services with family and friends. There is shared cloud space and a shared photo album. Users can set family and friends’ photos as screensavers on their phones. Besides these, Xiaomi might introduce a few India-centric features as well.
