Phones launching in February 2022: Redmi Note 11S, OnePlus Nord 2 CE, Realme 9 Pro, and more

We are done with the first month of 2022 and saw some new and exciting smartphones coming to India and other regions. Now, it seems like February is going to be busy as well, with several smartphone launches scheduled for next month. From Xiaomi to Samsung, every brand has something in store for us in the coming month. Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series is confirmed to arrive next month, and even Xiaomi is introducing a new Redmi smartphone in India, alongside the K50 series in China. Meanwhile, the Reno7 series is coming to India in early February, iQOO might be bringing its flagship iQOO 9 series to India next month. OnePlus is also slated to announce the mid-range Nord 2 CE in India. There are even more smartphones expected to launch next month. So, here are the top smartphones launching in February 2022.

Redmi Note 11S

Xiaomi recently announced the four new smartphones in the Redmi Note 11 series in the global market – the Redmi Note 11, Note 11S, Note 11 Pro 4G, and Note 11 Pro 5G. There’s no word on when the Redmi Note 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro 5G would be coming to India, but the Indian unit of Xiaomi has already confirmed the arrival of the Redmi Note 11S to India. Xiaomi will be introducing the Redmi Note 11S in India on February 9th.

We have an idea of what to expect from the Redmi Note 11S since it’s already been launched in Europe. The Redmi Note 11S features a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 1000nits peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Mediatek Helio G96 chipset paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It runs Android 11 based MIUI 13 out of the box. The smartphone comes with a 108MP quad rear camera setup and a 16MP selfie camera. The smartphone boasts a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The Redmi Note 11S global pricing starts from $279 (around Rs 20,900), and according to a rumour, it might cost around Rs 16,000-17,000 in India.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series

It’s the time of the year when we get the new Galaxy flagships, and 2022 will see the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S22. The South Korean giant has started teasing its next big unpacked event, scheduled for February 9th. The series would consist of Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra. We don’t know much officially, but the teasers bring some major improvements to the lowlight photography.

TM Roh, Samsung’s CEO, says that the upcoming Galaxy S series is going to be the most “Noteworthy” flagship, which clearly means that the South Korean giant is finally ready to merge the Galaxy Note lineup with the Galaxy S lineup smartphones. In case you missed the rumours, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is said to come with an S Pen, which can be tucked inside the phone itself, just like the Galaxy lineup smartphones.

As for the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S22 may feature a 6.06-inch FHD+ LTPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole design. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22+ would come with a tad bigger 6.55-inch LTPO panel with a refresh rate 120Hz. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.81-inch 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display. Then, all three models will reportedly come with a punch-hole cutout, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Corning Gorilla Victus protection.

The recently-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset would be powering the Galaxy S22 series in the US and other select markets. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22 series may come with the Exynos 2200 chipset in other markets such as India. The chipset under the hood would be paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 internal storage, further expandable using a microSD card.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

The lineup is likely to boot OneUI 4.0 on top of Android 12 out of the box. Other key features will include an in-display, fingerprint sensor, Samsung Pay, DeX, Bixby voice assistant, Dolby Atmos audio, and IP68 rating. The Galaxy S22, Plus, and Ultra models are said to boast a 3,700mAh battery, 4,500mAh, and 5,000mAh batteries, with up to 45W fast charging support.

As far as optics are concerned, the Galaxy S22 and Plus are expected to come with a triple rear camera setup. The triple camera setup on both smartphones may consist of a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP telephoto unit, and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Both the smartphones would have a 10MP sensor with Dual Pixel AF for selfies on the front. In contrast, the Ultra would feature a quad-camera setup led by a 108MP sensor paired with a SuperClear lens. The other three cameras on the Galaxy S22 Ultra could be a 12MP ultra-wide sensor and two 10MP telephoto sensors with 3x and 10x zoom and OIS. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to have a 40MP sensor front-facing sensor with PDAF for selfies.

As per a recent leak, the Galaxy S22 would start at $799 (around Rs. 59,800), and the base variant for Galaxy S22+ may cost $999 (around Rs. 74,800). The “noteworthy” Galaxy S22 Ultra is said to cost $1,199 (around Rs. 89,800) in the US.

OnePlus Nord CE 2

OnePlus Nord CE 2, the successor to the Nord CE, is coming next, at least according to the rumours. As per the rumour mill, the Nord CE 2 might launch on February 11th. Some reports also suggest that the OnePlus Nord CE 2 is a rebadged OPPO Reno7 SE with better cameras and faster-charging support. It is expected to be priced between Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 in India.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 is expected to feature a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. It would be powered by the Dimensity 900 chipset paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage. The smartphone is rumoured to have a 4,500mAH battery supporting 65W fast charging. The smartphone may feature a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 64MP primary OmniVision sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens.

Realme 9 Pro and 9 Pro+

Realme 9 series

In January, Realme debuted the first smartphone in the number series, the Realme 9i. Now, the company is preparing to announce the next smartphones in the lineup, namely the Realme 9 Pro and Realme 9 Pro+. In an exclusive interview with us, Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme, confirmed that the upcoming Realme 9 Pro duo would support 5G, and both the smartphones will be priced above Rs 15,000. According to a leaked poster, Realme’s upcoming mid-range duo might be launching on February 15th.

OPPO Reno7 series

After introducing its Reno7 series in China last year, OPPO is bringing the Reno7 series to India. The company is expected to announce two smartphones in the upcoming series — the Reno7 5G and Reno7 Pro 5G. The launch event for the two smartphones is scheduled for 12pm on February 4th.

One of the main highlights of the Reno7 series is its camera. The Reno7 series comes with a 32MP Sony IMX709 sensor, which is a custom RGBW front-facing sensor. Meanwhile, the Reno7 Pro 5G comes with a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor at the back with support for DOL-HDR, promising to capture a better dynamic range.

As per our previous report, the OPPO Reno7 5G is expected to be priced between Rs 28,000 and Rs 31,000, while the Reno7 Pro 5G might cost around Rs 41,000 to Rs 43,000 in India.

iQOO 9 series

A few days after unveiling the iQOO 9 series in China, Vivo-owned iQOO announced that the flagship smartphone series would soon come to India. However, the company didn’t give us any date, but we at 91mobiles learned that the upcoming iQOO smartphone series would be arriving in India in the month of February.

iQOO will be announcing two smartphones in the upcoming flagship series — the iQOO 9 and iQOO 9 Pro. Unlike the Chinese variant, the Indian variant of the iQOO 9 would be powered by the Snapdragon 888. Meanwhile, the iQOO 9 Pro will come with the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset as the Chinese variant. As per some industry sources, the iQOO 9 would be priced similar to the OnePlus 9 RT, so we can expect it to cost somewhere around Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000.

Redmi K50 series

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is expected to announce its new flagship smartphone series in February. However, it will first make its debut in China and will be launched in other markets later on. The series is rumoured to consist of four smartphones: the Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro, Redmi K50 Pro+, and Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. The said models are expected to come with Dimensity 7000, Dimensity 9000, Snapdragon 870, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipsets respectively. Further, Xiaomi also teased 120W charging support and the “Dual Vapor Chamber” heat dissipation setup for the Redmi K50 series.

Vivo X80 series

In January, we exclusively reported that Vivo is preparing to launch two new smartphones, i.e. the Vivo X80 and Vivo X80 Pro in India. We learned from our source that Vivo would be bringing the X80 series to India sometime in February. A recent report tipped the specifications of the Vivo X80 series, suggesting that the X80 would be powered by the Dimensity 8000 chipset, while the Dimensity 9000 would power the X80 Pro. Vivo also seems to be working on a higher specced X80 Pro+, which might come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, but there’s no word on whether it would be coming to India or not.

Samsung Galaxy A13 5G

Last year, Samsung announced the entry-level Galaxy A13 5G in the US. Later, we learned that the Galaxy A13 5G is expected to launch in India by February. Tipster Mukul Sharma further suggested that Samsung could also launch a 4G variant of Galaxy A13. The Samsung Galaxy A13 comes with a 6.5-inch LCD panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz, Dimensity 700 processor, 50MP triple rear camera setup, and a 5,000mAh battery. The Galaxy A13 5G costs $249.99 (around Rs 18,745).

Samsung Galaxy A33 5G

In February, Samsung is also expected to announce the Galaxy A33 5G in India. The smartphone has already received BIS certification and bears the model number SM-A336E/DS. The Galaxy A33. The smartphone is expected to come with a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, 6GB RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging support.
