Don’t miss a candid shot, just tap on the screen

So you have launched the camera and are all ready to click the desired shot, but at the right moment, you fumble with the shutter button. This happens to a lot of us and is a real bummer. However, with the minimalistic camera interface on Moto G5s, this won’t be an issue. Once you have launched the camera app, just tap on the subject in the frame to lock focus and tap on the display again to capture. That’s right. All it takes to capture a shot on Moto G5s Plus is a simple tap anywhere on the screen. So double twist the device and tap on the display, and voila you got your desired shot.

This functionality can be activated by swiping to the right from the camera interface and toggling ‘Tap anywhere to capture‘ option.

Say goodbye to the underexposed shot with the low-light mode

While Diwali is an all-day phenomenon, the real zeal of the festival comes out after dark when homes light up and decorations go up. However, it is common knowledge that most smartphone cameras and low-light conditions are like oil and water – they don’t mix. Normally, the pictures clicked in the night or less-than-optimal lighting are always grainy. However, Motorola has ensured that is not the case. The Moto G5s Plus comes with a low-light mode. This mode has been specially designed to control the amount of noise and other adjustments to pop the subject. Therefore, all those lamp and cracker shots you wish to capture will now turn out exactly the way you want them to.

Simply tap on the half-moon button in the top right corner of the viewfinder and turn on the Low Light Mode to capture impressive images.

Get brilliant portraits with the Depth-enabled mode

Having a dual camera-toting smartphone has a ton of advantages, of which, the ability to create portraits with bokeh effect is probably the best. The Moto G5s Plus comes with a dedicated Depth-Enabled Mode which lets you do exactly that. Whenever you are capturing a subject or a loved one and you want them to stand out from the background, you simply need to tap on the three dots in the bottom right, and enable Depth Enabled from the pop-up menu. This will keep the subject in sharp focus while artistically blurring the background.

However, do bear in mind not to get too close to the subject and capture in an optimally-lit area. To give you more control over the output, the G5s Plus comes with a slider which lets one adjust the amount of blur in the background between the levels 1 and 7.

Make the subject pop in your images with the Depth Editor

While the Depth-enabled mode offers good depth-of-field effects, the G5s Plus has another trick up its sleeve in the form of integrated Depth Editor, which adds another dimension to such images. It can be accessed from the gallery by clicking on the settings icon. If you see the depth-enabled label on an image, you can access the Depth Editor

Entering the depth editor, you will be able to select the layer that has to be in focus and rest of the image will be blurred by using the Selective Focus. The brand has also integrated a couple of extra modes – Selective B&W and Replace Background, both of which are quite powerful as the former lets you retain colours of the certain area of the image, while the latter lets you replace the background completely.

Get fine-grain control over your images with the Professional mode

It is a given that while auto mode in most smartphones is perfectly capable of capturing the best of images depending upon the ambient conditions. However, in some circumstances, the auto mode struggles to process the data captured and as a result, the images do not turn out to be as expected. In such situations, the finer control over various aspects of the camera comes in pretty handy to click the desired image. This is where the Moto G5s Plus shines, as it comes with a manual mode in the camera. It’s dubbed as Professional mode and offers users a greater control over aspects like white balance, exposure, saturation and shutter speed, among others.

Enhance the clicked images with the integrated Photos Editor

Apart from the aforementioned Depth Editor, the Moto G5s Plus also comes with a Photos Editor. Tapping on the settings button at the bottom on a regular photo will take you straight to the editor, where you can fine tune the colour, brightness and saturation of the image. Along with that you can crop and rotate it if needed, or spruce it up by applying filters.

This mode is particularly handy when you have captured an image that has the perfect frame but the lighting and colours are not per your liking, as you can now adjust them. There’s an Auto option in the editor too, that automatically takes care of the inconsistencies in an image and enhances it.

Bonus: open camera with a simple twist of your wrist twice

Such is the spirit of the festival that photographic moments present themselves at the spur of the moment. Often times, it so happens that by the time you take out your phone, navigate the menu and open the camera, you miss that perfect shot which caught your attention. The disappointment is real, we tell you. However, fret not as Motorola seems to understand this and offers a unique feature with its smartphones, including the Moto G5s Plus. As soon as you come across a scene that you would like to capture, all you have to do is to twist your wrist with the device in hand twice, and it will launch the camera in an instant. That’s not all. When you’re in the camera interface, you can perform the same gesture to switch between the selfie and primary shooters.
