“Apart from the December Security patch, the new update brings a host of new features including Adaptive Battery and Brightness”
It seems that the users of older generation Moto G6 Plus (first impressions) are in for a treat as the new year begins. Motorola has officially announced the rollout of the latest Android 9 Pie for the smartphone in the country. The brand has posted the whole changeling of the latest update on the official blog and it seems that Moto G6 Plus will receive the core Android Pie features as well as December Security patch.
According to Motorola’s official blog, the new update will bring gesture-based navigation system, improved Do Not Disturb mode and a colourful settings menu, redesigned Quick Settings, simplified volume controls and more. The update will also bring the Adaptive Battery and Adaptive Brightness to the Moto G6 Plus, which are both Machine Learning to control battery consumption and display brightness optimally. The update also brings notification UI changes like easy dismissal of notifications, and signature rounded stacks from Android Pie. Apart from the notification UI, other system elements like search bar, recent panel and split screen window also get a refreshed design.
Further, the latest update for the Moto G6 Plus will include performance enhancements, improved Doze and Background Limits to improve battery life, background app privacy, as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enhancements. The update also brings security enhancements for the device. However, Motorola does mention on the blog that some of the Android Pie features might not come to the Moto G6 Plus due to compatibility issues.
The update is being rolled out through OTA and Moto G6 Plus users will get prompted by a push notification. However, one can manually check the update on the Moto G6 Plus by going to Settings > System > System updates.
