“This is the first listing of the Moto G7 series on China’s certification portal – TENAA – in China.”
Motorola’s upcoming G series of phones have been leaked extensively during the past few weeks. We have seen specifications, CAD-based renders, pricing, and even official press renders for the series leak in the past few days. Despite that amount of info, there remains room for errors with the leaked reports. However, a particular Motorola model number XT9165-6 passed TENAA certification today all but confirming much of its spec-sheet at least for China. The reported model number – XT1965 – has been attributed to the Moto G7, as per info based on previous leaks.
As per the listing on the Chinese certification portal, the Moto XT1965-6 has a 6.24-inch display Full-HD+ display with the resolution being 1,080 x 2,270 pixels. This clearly indicates that the model mentioned here is not either of the two low-end Moto G series models – Moto G7 Play & Moto G7 Power – that will reportedly have HD+ resolution and bigger notches. Moving further, the Moto XT1965-6 is equipped with an octa-core processor. The listing has also revealed battery capacity as 2,820mAh and software on the handset as Android 9.0 Pie.
In terms of camera, the TENAA listing doesn’t complement previous leaked (Moto G7) info. Instead, it lists the Moto XT1965-6 model with a 5-megapixel front camera and an 8-megapixel rear shooter. On the other hand, the dimensions on TENAA – 156.9 x 75.3 x 8.2mm- match perfectly with the Moto G7 details leaked earlier.
That’s not all. Details of RAM and storage variants is also available but this could vary according to regions. The certification hints at a 4GB + 64GB model and a 6GB + 128GB model with MicroSD options also available. There will be no shortage of colour options as there could be as many as eight options – blue, red, black, purple, gray, gold, silver, and white.
Now, the only uncertainty from this listing is the actual identity of the above-mentioned model. That’s because the camera specifications do not match that of the Moto G7 or the Moto G7 Plus leaked earlier. Hence, it’s better not to make judgments on assumptions prematurely. In any case, the launch of the Moto G7 series takes place on February 7 in Brazil.
