Moto G7 variant with Snapdragon 625 processor spotted on Geekbench

“The specifications listed on the benchmarking website hints that this could be either Moto G7 Power or Play”

That Motorola is all set to launch the next-generation Moto G series smartphones comes as no news. Over the last few days, we have seen several speculations and leaks regarding various variants of the upcoming Moto G7 series. Now, a new smartphone has been spotted on the benchmarking website Geekbench and is being speculated to be one of the more affordable variants from the lineup.

Motorola G7 Play Geekbench

The new Geekbench leak has the smartphone listed as the Motorola Moto G(7). However, the spec sheet listed suggests that it will not be the Moto G7 but the more affordable Power or Play variant. The smartphone is seen with the mom8953 chipset, which points to the Snapdragon 625 processor. The chipset is seen backed by 3GB RAM and Android 9.0 Pie pre-installed. The smartphone scored 1,260 in single core and 4,759 in the multi-core test. The specs listed don’t give a clear idea as to what this smartphone could be as there have been contradicting reports in the past.

A recent FCC spotting of the Moto G7 Play had suggested that the smartphone will feature Snapdragon 632. However, a recent speculation is that the G7 Play could come with Snapdragon 625 as spotted in the Geekbench listing. Another report suggested that it will be the Moto G7 Power, which will feature the Snapdragon 625. In case the Moto G7 Play gets the Snapdragon 625 or even the Snapdragon 632, it will be a massive upgrade over the Moto G6 Play. Notably, the last generation base level model camera powered by the Snapdragon 430 SoC.

There is no word on the pricing of the handsets, however, we can expect them to range from budget to mid-range. It’s being speculated that Motorola might launch the next generation smartphones next month through an event in Brazil.
