Motorola might be gearing up to launch a new G-series phone in India. It’s possibly the Moto G86, which has been rumoured for quite some time. Now, 91mobiles has spotted a new Motorola phone on the BIS certification platform. The moniker hasn’t been revealed but we speculate that it belongs to the Moto G86 lineup. If launched, the new Motorola phone will succeed the Moto G85, which arrived in India last year under Rs 20,000.
Moto G86 BIS details
- A Motorola smartphone with the model number XT2527-5 has appeared on the BIS certification site, a mandatory platform for devices launching in India.
- It’s not confirmed which phone this model number belongs to but it’s most likely the Moto G86.
- This speculation is based on the EU Declaration site for devices launching in the continent. Here, the Moto G86 has been listed with the model number XT2527-2 and the moniker confirming the same.
- We had also spotted a Motorola phone with the model number XT2527-1 on the US FCC platform, which is believed to be the Moto G86.
- So the Moto XT2527-5 could belong to the Moto G86 as one of its variants. It’s also worth mentioning that the Moto G86 Power carries the model number XT2527-7.
- We should get more clarity about the Moto G86 lineup soon.
Moto G86: what to expect
- According to TUV Rheinland and UL Solutions, the Moto G86 might pack a 5,100mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. This is a slight upgrade over the Moto G85’s 5,000mAh battery and the same charging speed.
- The leaked renders revealed a triple-camera setup with a 50MP primary camera, which could be a Sony LYTIA sensor with OIS. The Moto G85 has a dual-camera setup so this would be a major upgrade.
- Moto G86 might also feature a flat display, and come with Dolby Atmos support.
- The Moto G86 is expected to cost EUR 330 (~Rs 31,700) for the 8GB + 256GB configuration, according to our sources. It’s tipped to launch in Golden, Cosmic, Red, and Spellbound colours.
