Weeks after introducing the Moto Pad 70, Motorola has confirmed that its upcoming entertainment-centred tablet, the Moto Pad 70 Groove, will launch in India on July 31st. Ahead of the launch, the company has revealed several specifications on Flipkart, with the tablet’s biggest highlight being what it claims is India’s first nine-speaker JBL audio system.
The model appears to be aimed at buyers who consume a lot of entertainment content. It builds on the Moto Pad 70 by placing greater emphasis on audio performance while retaining a large high refresh rate display and a sizeable battery.
Key specifications and features
According to Motorola, the Moto Pad 70 Groove will feature a 12.1-inch 2.5K display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10, Dolby Vision, and up to 800 nits of peak brightness in High Brightness Mode (HBM). These specifications should make it suitable for streaming, gaming and everyday productivity.
The standout feature is its audio setup. Motorola says the tablet packs India’s first nine-speaker JBL system, comprising four tweeters, three woofers and two passive radiators. The setup is paired with a 43cc acoustic chamber, dedicated bass units, Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certifications. The company claims the system can deliver up to 48W stereo output through a 7.2-channel cinematic audio configuration, positioning the tablet as an entertainment-focused device.
Powering the tablet is a 10,200mAh battery, which Motorola says can deliver up to 15 hours of video playback on a single charge. It will also ship with a 68W fast charger in the box. Promotional images show the tablet in a green colour option with a distinctive circular rear module that combines the JBL speaker grille with a built-in fold-out stand supporting multiple viewing modes, including portrait, landscape, theatre and hanging modes.
Motorola hasn’t disclosed details about the chipset, memory configurations, cameras or software. These are expected to be announced closer to launch.
Market availability
The Moto Pad 70 Groove will launch in India on July 31st and will be available via Flipkart. While Motorola hasn’t confirmed the tablet’s price, its feature set suggests it could compete with multimedia-focused offerings. The nine-speaker JBL setup could help it stand out if audio quality is a priority, as most tablets in this segment typically offer four to six speakers.
The Moto Pad 70 Groove looks worth waiting if you primarily use a tablet for streaming movies, listening to music or casual gaming and want a stronger audio experience than most rivals offer. However, buyers who prioritise performance or productivity should wait until Motorola reveals the processor, RAM options and pricing before making a decision.
