Highlights
  • Motorola Edge 40 Pro appears on the FCC certification website.
  • The listing reveals the phone will support up to 125W fast charging.
  • Motorola Edge 40 Pro is expected to launch soon.

Motorola Edge 40 Pro launch seems to be around the corner. The phone is set to succeed the Motorola Edge 30 Pro, which launched in India back in February. The successor is bound to get several upgrades under the hood. Thanks to its recent discovery on the FCC certification website, we now know that one of the upgrades is in the fast-charging department. It seems the Motorola Edge 40 Pro specifications will include up to 125W fast charging, which would be much faster than the 68W charging support on the Edge 30 Pro.

Motorola Edge 40 Pro FCC Listing

MySmartPrice mined out the FCC listing for the Motorola Edge 40 Pro. According to the FCC listing, the model number of the device is XT2301-4. The device will support 125W wired charging speed and also supports wireless and reverse wireless charging. While the charging speed of these is unknown, according to the listing, a Huawei wireless charger was used for testing purposes.

Also, there are two variants of the device in terms of cellular connectivity. A dual SIM model that supports one e-SIM paired with a physical SIM and a single SIM model that only supports a physical SIM. The device will also support 5G connectivity.

Another interesting revelation through the FCC listing is the charging adaptor model numbers for different regions. The model numbers are as follows, MC-1251, MC-1252, MC-1253, MC-1254, MC-1255, MC-1256, MC-1257, or MC-1259. All of these are 125W power adaptors. Moreover, 15W, 27W, 45W, and 125W are the different power outputs supported by the charging adaptor of the Motorola Edge 40 Pro.

We expect the Motorola Edge 40 Pro to launch with the recently unveiled Qualcomm flagship SoC, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. While we wait for Motorola to announce the official launch date for the device, the FCC listing suggests the launch is close. If we were to speculate based on Motorola Edge 30 Pro launch, we can expect the successor to release by March 2023.

We expect more leaks in the upcoming days as the Motorola Edge 40 Pro launch grows closer.
