Motorola to seemingly introduce new P series on August 15th; P30, P30 Note and P30 Play in tow

“Earlier it was expected that Motorola would launch the Moto Z3 and One Power in China on August 15th”

Motorola recently launched the Moto Z3 at an event held in Chicago, earlier this month. Soon after, the brand took to social media to announce a launch event to be held in China on August 15th. It was being speculated that the event will see the launch of Moto Z3 along with the Motorola One and Motorola One Power. However, ahead of the event, Motorola has listed three completely unheard-of smartphones on its Chinese official website.

These smartphones are called the P30, P30 Note and P30 Play and it seems that the brand might launch an all-new P series in China. The official listings of these phones don’t reveal much about the specifications except the memory configurations and colour options. The Moto P30 can be seen in two RAM and storage configurations – 6GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB. The handset will be offered in Ice Jade White, Bright Black and Aurora hues. The P30 Play as the name suggests, could be the most affordable of the lot and is spotted in a single 4GB + 64GB variant and gets Ice Jade White and Bright Black colour options. The P30 Note is expected to be the top-of-the-line handset in the series. The listing reveals that it will be offered in 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage configurations. It gets a single Bright Black colour, as per the website.

To recap on the Moto Z3, the smartphone comes with a 6-inch OLED display panel with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. The performance of the handset is handled by the Snapdragon 835 SoC, which is backed by 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. In the imaging department, the smartphone gets a pair of 12-megapixel shooters on the back and an 8-megapixel snapper on the front. Out of the box, the Z3 boots Android 8.1 Oreo and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. The rear panel gets the standard 16-pin magnetic connector and support for Moto Mods.

As for the P series, it will be interesting to see where exactly Motorola will position the new lineup. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait for long, if indeed the brand is planning to launch these smartphones on August 15th, so stay tuned to 91mobiles.
