Motorola Razr 70 Ultra surfaces on TENAA with key specs ahead of launch
Motorola’s next flip phone is looking more familiar the closer it gets to launch, and the latest certification filing confirms that impression. The Razr 70 Ultra has appeared on China’s TENAA certification database (via), revealing most of its hardware ahead of launch. The standard Razr 70 was cleared recently as well, so the full series looks close to an official announcement in China.
The listing adds detail, but it also shows Motorola sticking closely to what it shipped last year, with changes focused on performance and configuration options.
Same displays, similar silicon
Starting with display, the TENAA listing shows a 6.9-inch foldable OLED panel and a 4-inch cover screen with the same resolutions as the Razr 60 Ultra. That’s not necessarily a drawback, as the current model already offers one of the more usable outer screens in this category. Design follows a similar pattern. The TENAA listing shows a 7.2 mm thickness and a weight of around 199 grams, effectively mirroring the Razr 60 Ultra. TENAA lists a processor with peak clock speeds of up to 4.32GHz, which aligns with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite from last year. Earlier leaks were mixed. Some pointed to a newer version of the chipset, while others suggested Motorola would stick with the existing platform. The certification listing leans towards the latter, which means any gains are likely to come from optimisation rather than a noticeable jump in performance.
Battery is one area where the leaks and listing diverge. TENAA shows a rated capacity of 4,540mAh, translating to roughly 4,700mAh in typical use, which is essentially unchanged from the Razr 60 Ultra. Leaks, however, had suggested a bump to 5,000mAh. That difference could come down to regional variants. The foldable may also support 68W fast charging, according to a listing on China’s 3C certification site.
Camera details are slightly inconsistent based on earlier leaks. TENAA points to a dual 50MP rear setup with a 50MP front camera, matching last year’s hardware, while earlier leaks had mentioned a triple 50MP system.
The Razr 60 Ultra launched in India at Rs 99,999 for the 16GB + 512GB variant in May 2025, placing it directly in the premium foldable segment alongside Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip lineup. Based on what’s surfaced so far, the Razr 70 Ultra is expected to sit in that same bracket with a very similar hardware mix.
The TENAA listing and earlier leaks describe a phone that changes very little in areas users tend to notice. The displays, cameras, battery, and overall design remain close to the current model, which makes the Razr 70 Ultra feel more like a repeat than a step forward. At this price level, users usually expect at least one standout upgrade in the form of a better battery life, a more capable camera system, or a visible design shift. None of those are clearly present here based on current information.
Motorola’s approach worked with the Razr 60 Ultra, especially with its cover display advantage. But in a segment that is still evolving, holding back on visible changes risks making the device feel dated faster. If competitors push harder this year, particularly Samsung with the next Galaxy Z Flip, Motorola may find it harder to hold attention with a product that looks and behaves so much like its predecessor. Users should wait for the full official specs reveal before deciding to make a purchase decision as this could go either way, since foldables with newer features are coming out to be more expensive.
