“The new Motorola Razr phone is expected to come in a clamshell design and a secondary display on the outer shell”
Samsung and Huawei both kicked off the foldable smartphone trend with the Galaxy Fold and Mate X, respectively. Both the smartphones are expected to hit the shelves in the next few months. In the meantime, other OEMs, such as Motorola, are gearing up to launch its version of the foldable phone. As we already know, the Lenovo-owned brand is likely to bring back its iconic ‘Razr’ brand that was popular for the clamshell design with a vertically folding display.
While the vendor is yet to reveal if and when it plans to launch the device, folks at XDA Developers have managed to obtain information that confirms Razr branding for the Motorola foldable phone as well as some of the specifications. The image (above) is said to be the new logo for the upcoming Motorola phone that has allegedly been codenamed as ‘Voyager’. It’s not clear if the vendor will dub the device as Motorola Razr or Moto Razr at the moment, but we can tell you that Razr will be there in the moniker.
Moreover, the Motorola Razr is tipped to arrive with Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset ticking at its core. It’s a mid-range octa-core SoC that is forged on the 10nm process, offers 2.2GHz clock speed, and accompanied by Adreno 616 GPU. Notably, the chipset also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+, but we are not sure what kind of fast charging the Motorola Razr will offer. The report speculates the device could come with the Motorola’s 27W TurboPower charging. It also claims the handset may have a 2,730mAh battery, though it does point “the information we have on the battery may be outdated.”
The phonemaker will reportedly ship its first foldable phone with two RAM and storage options: 4GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB. The handset is said to have a 6.2-inch OLED screen with 876 x 2,142 pixels resolution. The “closed” or secondary display is expected to boast of 600 × 800p resolution, but its size is not known at the moment. On the software front, the Motorola Razr is tipped to arrive with a customised Android OS (version unknown) that’ll allow users to access up to 6 Quick Settings tiles that will be displayed on the “closed display,” trigger Google Assistant while the phone is closed, and much more. The handset is said to come in Black, White, and Gold colour options.
