- The new Apple AirPods are expected to slot between the AirPods Pro and the second-gen AirPods
- The truly wireless earbuds are tipped to be called AirPods Pro Lite
- Apple was previously expected to announce the new AirPods in March
Apple AirPods Pro were unveiled back in October 2019 with all-new design along with active noise cancellation. The Cupertino giant was reported to be working on a Lite variant of the AirPods Pro that are expected to come with a lower price tag and toned-down internal hardware. Now, Jon Prosser of The FrontPageTech, claims new AirPods are ready to go official and may launch alongside the new MacBook Pro in May. Posser, who was spot on with his reports on the new iPhone SE 2020, says that Apple was supposed to launch the new AirPods in March, but the company likely changed its plans due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Unfortunately, Prosser does not reveal any other details about the new AirPods. Based on past reports, the truly wireless earbuds from Apple could be called AirPods Pro Lite. An earlier report suggested the Taiwan-based Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) is the main supplier of the Apple AirPods Pro Lite and they are said to be equipped with a system-in-package chipset. We should know more details about the new AirPods and its features going forward.
As for the Apple AirPods Pro, they ship with a completely new design, including silicone ear-tips that were missing on the original AirPods. The ear-tips provide a better seal and allow the AirPods Pro to offer active noise cancellation. There’s also a transparency mode to stay aware of surroundings. The AirPods Pro earbuds come with the in-house H1 chipset and are claimed to last up to five hours on a single charge, but with the Active Noise cancellation, they can last up to four and half hours. The AirPods Pro earbuds are available in India, priced at Rs 24,900.
