An Ather electric scooter has been spied on test and reportedly could be offered as a sub-Rs 1 lakh product from the company. The Bengaluru-based EV startup currently only operates in the premium electric scooter segments in India with its Ather 450 Plus and Ather 450X offerings. Ather electric scooter under Rs 1 lakh

The new Ather electric scooter has been spied testing in BTM layout, Bengaluru and is being speculated to be launched under Rs 1 lakh electric two-wheeler segment in the country. The image of the Ather electric scooter shows partial camouflage on the bodywork of the EV. However, the silhouette can be observed to be a derivative of the outgoing Ather 450 Plus and Ather 450X premium electric scooter. The test vehicle also wears a dark grey paint shade similar to the ‘Space Grey’ paint option that’s part of the company’s colour palette. The Bengaluru-based EV startup recently unveiled some new colour options for its existing lineup along with some minor upgrades

The new affordable electric scooter from the company is expected to use a more cost-effective tubular chassis as compared to the aluminium chassis that underpins the Ather 450X and the Ather 450 Plus electric scooters. The battery pack also could be smaller and the electric scooter could deliver a claimed range of around 80km on a single charge. The motor’s peak power output could also be electronically limited keeping it on par with the competition.

Ather Energy currently does not have any offering in the sub-Rs 1 lakh electric scooter segment in India. Ola Electric recently launched its Ola S1 Air lineup and other EV startups in the country such as Okinawa, Okaya, Ampere, etc have products that cater to the said market.
