The new PS5 update brings multiple social features, starting with Discord voice chat. You can now use Discord voice chat while playing games to easily communicate with other players on different platforms. This comes extremely handy in games that require a lot of coordination such as Destiny 2 raids. Apart from these, you can join a game from the voice chat card. You can now see which friends are online and who are currently playing a game from the Friends Who Play tile. You can also manually select and upload game captures to PlayStation App. Finally, you can share your screen or request a screen share from a friend’s profile.

The PS5 update brings VRR support for 1440p when you are playing a game that supports VRR. You need a VRR-compatible HDMI 2.1 display to play games with VRR support. You can now filter games in your library when adding them to a gamelist. These filters can help you easily find PS VR and PS VR2 games. Besides these, you can set up your preferences to select who can join or invite players to multiplayer sessions.

The update also makes PS4 to PS5 saved data migration much more seamless. When you install a PS4 game on PS5, you will get a notification saying PS4 saved data is available on PSN cloud storage that will allow you to download your saved data. You can now easily transfer data between two PS5 consoles as well using a local Wi-Fi network or LAN cable. PS5 users in the UK and US can use “Hey PlayStation, capture that!” voice command to begin game capture.
