- Analyst Ross Young suggests the next iPhone SE will flaunt a 6.1-inch LCD panel and a notch.
- Apple plans to slide the Touch ID Side button into the iPhone SE, like iPad Air and iPad mini.
- The next iPhone SE could use the iPhone XR’s body and launch in 2024.
A fresh report from MacRumors, citing Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young, suggests the next iPhone SE will flaunt a 6.1-inch LCD panel and a notch. Ross Young has a good track record of tipping accurate insights into Apple’s plans. Previously, Young said that Apple plans to launch the next iPhone SE model in 2024 with a 5.7-inch – 6.1-inch LCD screen. Interestingly, the analyst also said: it’ll have a hole-shaped cutout that houses a selfie snapper.

While at that time, it didn’t seem a big deal to hear about a hole-shaped cutout iPhone display, it could have been a reference to the addition of Dynamic Island on the next-generation iPhone SE. However, Young revised this claim and now says the handset will ship with a 6.1-inch LCD panel and a notch. The report doesn’t clarify whether the next iPhone SE will have a TrueDepth camera layout to facilitate FaceID.
iPhone SE 2024 could be iPhone XR with Touch ID
Word on the internet is that the next iPhone SE will feature a notch display but stick to Touch ID to keep the customers’ interest rate high and the phone’s manufacturing cost down. Notched-display design would mean that the next iPhone SE will finally retire the traditional home button. But it won’t be goodbye Touch ID yet. Apple plans to slide in the Touch ID Side button to the iPhone SE, like iPad Air and iPad Mini, according to MyDrivers and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
A recent tip from Young also suggests all iPhone 15 models coming in 2024 will feature Dynamic Island. If both predictions of Young turn out true – Dynamic Island on all iPhone 15 models and LCD notch display on iPhone SE – then the next iPhone SE would be the only 2024 iPhone model with an LCD screen and a notch.
Previously, we learned that the next iPhone SE could use the iPhone XR’s body, which also has a 6.1-inch LCD screen, by the way.
