“Nokia 1.3 certification shows the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2xx series chipset and support Bluetooth 4.2”
After launching the Nokia 2.3 Android one budget smartphone in India, HMD Global seems to be working on another affordable phone with model number TA-1213. The handset, which may be called Nokia 1.3 at the time of launch, has now bagged Bluetooth certification. The Nokia 1.3 appears to be in the lines of the Nokia C1 Android Go phone that was unveiled recently. It will ship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 2xx series chipset, which could be Snapdragon 215 SoC, unlike the Nokia 1 Plus which came with a MediaTek chipset. The Nokia TA-1213 will have support for Bluetooth 4.2.
Unfortunately, the remaining Nokia 1.3 specifications and other key details are not available at the moment. But we expect HMD Global to make the phone official in the coming weeks.
HMD Global’s 2020 plans
Off late, the Nokia-brand licensee has been focusing more on the budget segment. It is confirmed to launch a Snapdragon 765G powered 5G phone in Q1 2020. Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global noted that the upcoming 5G phone would feature PureDisplay with HDR10 support and ZEISS imaging. Though he didn’t reveal the camera details, he mentioned the device would offer 4K video recording even with the ultra-wide-angle lens. This could mean the handset might come with a triple camera setup at the back.
Furthermore, the handset is also confirmed to offer an all-day battery life and could have fast-charging capabilities. There’s a possibility the said 5G phone could be announced at the MWC 2020 event, which will kick-off in February 2020. We should know more details about Nokia’s first 5G phone then.
