“All three latest Nokia smartphones are budget offerings with the stock iteration of Android”
Earlier this year in May, HMD Global refreshed its budget range of Android smartphones by launching the Nokia 2.1, 3.1, and 5.1. In June, the company released the Nokia 3.1 in India with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Now the brand has launched a new variant of the Nokia 3.1 in India, alongside the Nokia 2.1 and 5.1. The trio is a part of Google’s Android One initiative and ships with stock Android. Both the 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 also come with taller 18:9 displays.
Talking about the Nokia 2.1 first, the phone offers a 5.5-inch HD display and is fuelled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor. The SoC is backed by 1GB of RAM and gets 8GB of expandable storage. Software-wise, the handset runs Android Oreo (Go Edition). In the imaging department, the device gets an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and a 5MP front shooter for selfies. The smartphone utilises a 4,000mAh battery, which is said to deliver two days worth of battery life.
As for the Nokia 3.1, the phone’s 2GB RAM + 16GB variant was launched in India last month with a price tag of Rs 10,499. Now the brand has released its higher-end model that ships with 3GB RAM + 64GB storage. The other specs of the handset remain the same as the earlier model, i.e. a 5.2-inch HD+ display, the MediaTek MT 6750 SoC, a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front shooter, and a 2,990mAh battery.
Coming to the Nokia 5.1, the smartphone offers an all-metal unibody design, which is crafted from a single block of series 6000 aluminium. The phone is equipped with a 5.5-inch IPS display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution. The screen is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top. Powering the handset is a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6755S processor. The chipset is accompanied by 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage. The device offers a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and PDAF, and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. A 3,000mAh battery fuels the package.
Coming to the pricing, the Nokia 2.1 has been priced at Rs 6,999, while the Nokia 3.1 and 5.1 will be available for Rs 11,999 and Rs 14,999 respectively. The smartphones will be up for grabs starting August 12th across channels in the country. There are several launch offers as well, with ICICI debit and credit card holders getting 5 percent cashback on the purchase of the 3.1 and 5.1. Idea and Vodafone subscribers will also be able to avail exciting recharge offers with 1GB data / day, unlimited calls and 100 SMS/day for a month.
