HMD Global has announced that the Nokia 3 will skip the 7.1.2 Nougat update to get Oreo directly
Backin September, HMD Globals chief product officer Juho Sarvikas announced that all the brand’s Nokia smartphones wouldbe getting the Android Oreo update. At the time, the same update was confirmed for the entry-level Nokia 3 as well. The phone was launched running Android 7.0 Nougat, and was expected to get the Android 7.1.2 update earlier this year.

Now Sarvikas has announced that the brand will be skipping the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update for the Nokia 3. However, the good news is that the handset will be directly updated to Android Oreo. Unfortuntely, Sarvikas didn’treveal exactly when the phone wouldbe getting the Oreo update.
Announced at MWC in February, the Nokia 3 was launched in India in June. The budget offering features a durable build consisting of a polycarbonate back with an aluminium frame running around all the edges. The phone sports a 5-inch display bearing a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels and a layer of Cornings Gorilla Glass on top. The device is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor, mated to 2GB of RAM and Adreno 308 graphics.
The Nokia 3 comes with 16GB of storage, which can be further expanded by inserting a microSD card. The camera department includes an 8-megapixel autofocus primary snapper at the rear with an LED flash, and an 8-megapixel fixed-focus shooter on the front. In terms of connectivity, the phone offers dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, VoLTE (voice over LTE), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. A 2,650mAh battery completes the list of specifications.
The Nokia 3 is priced at Rs 9,499, and is available via major e-commerce portals and in brick and mortar stores across the country.
