HMD Global has finally launched the Nokia 4.2 (first impressions) smartphone in India, a couple of months after its global unveiling at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). The Nokia 4.2 features a 5.71-inch display, is powered by the Snapdragon 439 SoC, and runs on Android 9.0 Pie under the Android One program. It has a dedicated Google Assistant button on the side.

The Nokia 4.2 price in India has been set as Rs 10,990 and the handset will come in Black and Pink colour options. The smartphone goes on sale in India on May 7th exclusively via the company’s official site. Starting May 14th, the handset will become available via large-format stores such as Croma, Poorvika, Reliance Digital, Big C, Sangeetha, and MyG. From May 21st, it will be up for grabs via all retail outlets across the country. It will be available at a discount of Rs 500 on using the code ‘LAUNCHOFFER’ on Nokia.com till June 10th.
As for launch offers, Nokia 4.2 will come with six-month screen replacement worth Rs 3,500 via Servify. HDFC Bank customers who purchase the handset using credit and debit cards on EMI will get 10 percent cashback; transactions made via Pinelabs terminal will get the same cashback. Both of these offers are limited to June 10th. Vodafone and Idea subscribers will get cashback worth Rs 2,500 in the form of Rs 50 vouchers on packs priced Rs 199 and above.

The Nokia 4.2 sports a smaller 5.71-inch HD+ display with 1,520 x 720 pixels resolution, 19:9 aspect ratio, 2.5D curved glass display and waterdrop notch. A slightly powerful Snapdragon 439 octa-core processor with Adreno 505 GPU powers the phone. The handset comes in two variants − 2GB RAM + 16GB and 3GB RAM + 32GB onboard storage; however, only the latter last been released in India. The storage is further expandable up to 400GB through microSD card. It boots Android 9.0 Pie out of the box and packs a glass back.
For cameras, the smartphone offers a dual-camera setup on the back consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth unit for the portrait shots. On the front, the Nokia 4.2 gets an 8MP shooter for selfies. There is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric security. Connectivity features include dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS. A 3,000mAh built-in battery fuels the phone.
