“The Nokia 5.1 Plus Android Pie update brings Adaptive Battery power prioritization and Predictive Application Actions“
Just yesterday, HMD Global started pushing out the latest Android 9 Pie stable update to the Nokia 6.1 Plus (review) in India. Now, the brand has started pushing out the latest update to the more affordable Nokia 5.1 Plus (review) as well. This makes the Nokia 5.1 Plus one of the most affordable offering to get the latest update. However, that should not come as a surprise since the phone is an Android One offering.
Contradictory to the Nokia 6.1 Plus’ ~320MB update size, the latest update for the 5.1 Plus weighs in at a hefty 1.3GB. The update brings along with it, the December security patch as well as all the Android 9 Pie goodies. The latter includes new system navigation, revamped settings menu, Adaptive battery, Adaptive brightness, and predictive application actions. Moreover, the update also brings the option to hide display notch in settings and Pro mode in the camera. With this, the Nokia 5.1 Plus becomes the second non-Zeiss branded handset to get the manual mode from Nokia. The update is being rolled out through OTA and will reach all users in a phased manner.
To recap on the specs of the Nokia 5.1 Plus, the phone comes with a 5.86-inch HD+ display with an iPhone X-like notch and an aspect ratio of 19:9. Powering the smartphone is the MediaTek’s Helio P60 SoC. For imaging, the phone offers a 13-megapixel primary sensor, aided by a 5-megapixel secondary shooter and LED flash. On the front, the Nokia 5.1 Plus offers an 8-megapixel snapper. It boots stock Android operating system and is fuelled by a 3,060mAh battery.
Available in Gloss Black and Gloss Midnight Blue, the Nokia 5.1 Plus is already on sale in India. The smartphone retails at a price of Rs 10,999 and can be picked exclusively from Flipkart.
