HMD Global recently announced that it will be hosting an event on September 5th in Berlin at this year’s IFA. While the company hasn’t revealed the name of the Nokia devices it will be unveiling at its upcoming event, one of these products is expected to be the Nokia 7.2. Ahead of the launch, the upcoming Nokia 7.2 has been certified by multiple regulatory authorities like the Federal Communications Commission and NBTC. In addition, a handful of press renders and live images of the phone have also been leaked on the interwebs. Design and display: squircle camera module and waterdrop notch

According to the leaked press renders and live images, the Nokia 7.2 will come with a waterdrop notch above the screen, which will be home to the selfie camera. The bezels on the top and sides will be slim, while there will be a tad thick chin with the Nokia branding. Moving on to the rear, the Nokia 7.2’s leaked photos suggest that the smartphone will have a circular primary camera module.

Below the primary camera module, the Nokia 7.2 will feature a fingerprint sensor. The handset’s power button and volume rocker will be placed on the right side. At the bottom edge, the handset will feature a speaker, a charging port, and a 3.5mm headphone socket. As far as the display is concerned, the Nokia 7.2 is believed to offer a 6.2-inch screen with full HD+ resolution.

Some reports suggest that the Nokia 7.2 could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 processor, while the others indicate that the chipset could be the Snapdragon 660. Most recently, the Nokia 7.2 was spotted on the benchmarking website Geekbench with an octa-core Snapdragon processor, which had a clock speed of 1.84GHz. The benchmarking website benchmarked the handset with Android Pie and 6GB of RAM. However, a model of the phone with 4GB of RAM could be also in the offing. Storage-wise, the handset is expected to be available in 64GB and 128GB variants.

Cameras: triple rear cameras

As per the leaked press renders, the Nokia 7.2 will come with three cameras at the rear. Along with an LED flash unit, these sensors will be placed inside a square camera module. Notably, the main camera module is expected to flaunt Carl ZEISS optics. While there’s no official word on the camera specs, one of the three shooters is expected to be a 48-megapixel sensor. As for the selfies, the phone will have a single camera on the front, if the leaked photos are to be believed.

Other specs

The Nokia 7.2 is rumoured to boot the stock version of Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Being an Android One offering, the smartphone can be expected to receive guaranteed upgrades to the two next version of Android – Android 10 and its follow up version. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone is expected to pack the regular options like 4G, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS. Unfortunately, there’s no word regarding the battery capacity of the device at the moment.

If the reports are to be believed, the Nokia 7.2 could be priced somewhere between Rs 18,000 and Rs 20,000.
