“The brand also confirms that the Digital Well Being features will be coming to the phone this autumn”
Just recently, OnePlus pushed the latest Oxygen OS based on Android 9.0 Pie to its newest flagship – OnePlus 6 (review) in India. Now, HMD Global has followed its footsteps by rolling out the Android Pie upgrade to the users of Nokia 7 plus (review) in the country. Notably, since the smartphone comes with Android One branding, it gets the latest update in the stock iteration. The company also claims that the Nokia 7 Plus is the first in the mid-range segment to get the Pie update in the country.
Since the Nokia 7 Plus gets the Android Pie in its stock avatar, the handset gets Pixel-exclusive features as well. This includes App Actions, which learns from the usage behaviour and makes it more convenient by making suggestions based on the pattern. This means that the software will be able to predict your next action at a specific time and suggest apps based on that. Besides this, the update also brings Slices, which shows the relevant information of frequently used apps to make it more convenient for the user. The Android Pie update also brings Adaptive Brightness and Battery to the mice, which uses machine learning to understand usage pattern and adjust accordingly.
Further, HMD Global has also assured that the Digital Well Being features, which were showcased by Google at its Keynote will also arrive during Autumn 2018. This included Dashboard, which shows the on screen time and phone usage including the number of times the phone was unlocked in a day. The update will also let you check app usage and set limits on them. The Android Pie will also bring the Wind Down feature, which will turn all your notifications off and turn the display to monochrome just in time for bed. Apart from this, the update brings a lot of visual and under the hood improvements as well.
For the uninitiated, the Nokia was in deep waters recently as the Android P Beta June security update for the 7 Plus rolled the software back to Android 8.0 Oreo. The handset is up for grabs at Amazon India, Nokia e-shop and select retail stores for Rs 25,999.
