Nokia 8.1 India launch now expected on December 10th as HMD Global sends invites

HMD Global earlier this week sent ‘Save the Date’ invites to Indian media for an event it planned to host on December 6th. However, its plans have changed in the last few days and now the event has been rescheduled to December 10th and slated to start at 5:30pm IST. While the brand has not revealed which smartphones it will reveal at the event, it is widely expected that the Nokia 8.1 will be launched in India on the day.

Previously, the Nokia 8.1 India launch was expected to be held on December 6th, just a day after HMD Global announces three new models at an event in Dubai. But since then, the brand has launched the Nokia 7.1 in India and has now pushed back the dedicated India event by four days. We can, nonetheless, the Nokia 8.1 — expected to be the global variant of Nokia X7 — make it to India on December 10th. 91mobiles had exclusively reported that the Nokia 8.1 price in India will be Rs 23,999.

Apart from that, HMD Global could also launch the Nokia 2.1 Plus smartphone on December 10th, depending on whether it is made official at the Dubai event. Nokia 9 is also expected to launch by the end of the year, but there is no certainty yet whether it will be unveiled at the Dubai or India launch events.

As the global variant of Nokia X7, Nokia 8.1 specifications will include a 6.18-inch full-HD+ screen and Snapdragon 710 processor. Accompanying the chipset will be up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB expandable storage. In the imaging department, the handset will get 13MP + 12MP sensors with LED flash on the rear and a 20-megapixel shooter up front. Android 8.1 Oreo and 3,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging support, and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner are other key features of the smartphone.
