“This will be the first time HMD Global will be attending the IFA tech expo in Berlin, Germany”
HMD Global will be attending IFA 2019, the brand’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas shared on Twitter today. Notably, this will be the first time that the Finnish brand will be attending the annual gathering in Berlin and we can expect some new Nokia smartphones to be unveiled at the event as well. If recent leaks are to go by, we might witness the launch of Nokia 8.2, Nokia 7.2, Nokia 6.2, or even Nokia 5.2 at the event.
According to the invite image, the HMD Global event at IFA will take place on September 5th at 4pm local time (7:30pm IST). Unfortunately, the invite image does not mention any smartphones and the brand has not even teased any features, which is a common trend.
Coming to the smartphones expected to be unveiled at the event, the Nokia 8.2 has been tipped to feature a 32MP selfie camera and run Android Q out of the box. Some of the recent rumours suggest that the Nokia 6.2 could feature a 6-inch FHD+ punch-hole display and be powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC, paired with 6GB RAM and a 3,300mAh battery. Similarly, the Nokia 7.2 is said to feature a waterdrop notch and also be powered by the same Snapdragon 660 SoC but with a larger 3,500mAh battery. These handsets could come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security as well. Both these phones have reportedly been spotted on BIS certification in India, suggesting that these models might be launched in India soon after the global announcement.
Moving to the Nokia 5.2, the low-end handset has also been subjected to leaks in the recent past. It’s said to feature a 48MP primary sensor with Zeiss optics and a 20-megapixel secondary wide-angle lens. The smartphone has a teardrop notch to accommodate the selfie snapper and a relatively thin chin at the bottom with Nokia branding. The handset is expected to have full-HD+ resolution with 1,080 x 2,340 pixels resolution. The Nokia 5.2 is likely to run on Android 9.0 Pie with stock Android skin.
As of now, HMD Global has just confirmed its attendance at the event, so we would advise you to take the rest of the information with a pinch of salt.
