Nokia 8.2? HMD Global teases launch of new Nokia phone on December 5th

“HMD Global may unveil the much-rumoured Nokia 8.2 smartphone at the December 5th event, or maybe the successor to the Nokia 9 PureView”

A new Nokia phone is in the offing as HMD Global has just posted a video on its Twitter page, which teases the launch of an upcoming smartphone. Not a lot of details have been shared about the Nokia phone apart from the December 5th launch date. The teaser does reveal an outline for a smartphone, but again, there’s not a lot one can glean from it. We have no idea where the event will be held, nor do we know what phone or product Nokia is talking about. There are a couple of devices that come to mind though.

Going by the vague outline of the device seen on the teaser, it is a smartphone for sure. Upon closer inspection, it appears that the phone could have very slim bezels all around and may not have a notch. However, we can’t be sure, so do take all of this with a pinch of salt. The Nokia 8.2 has been popping up in recent rumours, which is expected to have a notchless design with a pop-up camera. Could it be the Nokia 8.2? We aren’t sure, but we hope it is.

The Nokia 8.1 was unveiled on December 5th last year, so it is possible that HMD Global might just unveil the successor this year. We would have to wait and find out. The teaser also includes the hashtag #NokiamobileLive, which could mean something, but again, there are no confirmations. December 5th is only a couple of weeks away and we should get more information soon. If not the Nokia 8.2, then we can expect a successor to the Nokia 9 PureView, or the Nokia 5.2

Nokia 8.2 price, specifications

If HMD Global does unveil the Nokia 8.2, then we can expect the phone to come with the new Snapdragon 735 chipset, which features 5G support. Rumours have suggested that the phone would only be launched as a 5G-only model. The phone is expected to feature a 32-megapixel pop-up selfie camera and a primary 64-megapixel unit at the back. It will reportedly run Android 10 and include a large battery with fast charging support. As for the Nokia 8.2 price, it is said to cost around $500 (about Rs 35,000). Of course, we can’t confirm any of these specifications or the price just yet, so the best option would be to wait.
