The Nokia 9 PureView (first impressions) smartphone launch in India is being delayed as the company is serving the market with what is relevant to the market.” While the flagship was teased by the official Nokia India Facebook page back in March, there has been no update since then. HMD Global has said that it wanted to launch the Nokia 9 PureView in India soon after its global unveiling, but the focus has been on budget-oriented models such as the Nokia 4.2, Nokia 3.2, and the recently-launched Nokia 2.2 smartphones.

Talking to NDTV Gadgets 360Pranav Shroff, Global Portfolio GM, HMD Global said, “We will definitely bring Nokia 9 PureView here. Ideally, we would have liked to have done it at the same time [as the global launch] but there is always prioritisation that happens – like the Nokia 2.2 is coming first to India.”

“The intent is to serve the market with what is relevant to the market. If you look at the India smartphone market, less than 1 percent of consumers shop over Rs 30,000,” Shroff added. “The reality is that this market we are specifically sitting in doesn’t buy in this segment.”
