HMD Global, the company that has revived the yesteryear’s Nokia brand, has made a name for itself by offering timely software upgrades to its devices. Most recently, the company rolled out OTA update of Android Pie to the Nokia 7 Plus (review) smartphone. Now, at the launch event of Nokia 7.1, has revealed a roadmap for Android 9.0 Pie updates for its other offerings.
As per the brand, the mid-range Nokia 6.1 (review) and Nokia 6.1 Plus (review) smartphones will be getting the updates to the latest build of Android within this month. The flagship Nokia 8 (review) and Nokia 8 Sirocco (review) devices will get it by the end of the year, while the newly-launched Nokia 7.1 will be upgraded by November.
Talking about the Nokia 7.1, it’s the latest mid-range smartphone from HMD Global. The handset is part of Android One initiative and ships with Android Oreo out of the box. The phone sports a premium glass-sandwich design and ships with a 5.84-inch full HD+ PureView display, with is capable of playing HDR content. Under the hood, the smartphone employs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 chipset which is paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM. At the back, the 7.1 flaunts a pair of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel shooters, whereas an 8MP snapper takes care of selfie requirements. A 3,060mAh battery rounds up the spec sheet.
