Nokia on Monday announced its journey into the dual-sim mobile phone segment with the launch of two new handsets (C1-00, C2-00) in Delhi. A move aimed at strengthening its market share in the country. With is an intense market in the Indian mobile segment, several home brands like Micromax, Karbonn, Maxx mobiles, Zen mobiles and many more are confronting the rivalry. With the event of launch, Nokia India Managing Director, D Shivkumar told reporters in New Delhi, “The dual SIM market in India has taken off well, mainly due to the tariff war amongst telecom operators. Nokia Executive Vice-President (Mobile Phones) Mary McDowell told reporters “Entry-level consumers need dual SIMs for various reasons, including economizing time and costs, improving efficiency and for increased convenience. To address these consumer requirements, Nokia has launched these two devices that offer multiple SIM capabilities with a balanced feature set and relevant innovations at affordable price points here.” Multinational mobile players like Samsung already have dual-sim mobiles launched in market. Nokia C1 (C1-00) is very strict in targeting entry-level customers and stuffed with very basic features like flash light, FM Radio and a call divert feature to ensure the users will not miss a call from either of two Sims. It is tagged Rs.1999/- Nokia C2 (C2-00) will hit the markets later in the year will facilitate access to services like Ovi Life, Ovi tools, and Ovi mail. It has a music player and supports 32GB SD cards.
