“HMD Global now plans to showcase what it had lined up for the MWC event at a separate event”
HMD Global, the company that manufactures smartphones under the Nokia brand, had scheduled an event for MWC on February 23rd in Barcelona. It was expected to unveil the Nokia 8.2 5G, Nokia 1.3, Nokia 5.2 and Nokia 400 feature phone. Now, days ahead of the event, the Nokia brand licensee has withdrawn from participating at MWC 2020 owing to the ongoing coronavirus catastrophe. However, the company mentioned that it’ll go ahead and showcase what it had lined up for the event later, with more details in this regards soon.
To recall, Vivo, LG, Sony, Amazon, TCL, Nvidia, and Ericsson had already pulled out of MWC 2020. GSMA, the organisers of MWC will reportedly decide the fate of the show on February 14th. However, Xiaomi, Huawei, Realme Honor, and OPPO – at the time of filing this – plan to attend the event.
HMD Global, in a statement, said, “MWC Barcelona has always been a key event in our annual calendar and we were very excited to showcase our new products to our partners, customers, media and fans. However, the health and safety of our employees, customers, and stakeholders is our highest priority. We still plan to showcase what we had lined up for our presence at MWC Barcelona and will share details on how we’ll do that soon.”
Nokia 8.2 5G, Nokia 5.2, Nokia 1.3 specifications and price
Nokia 8.2 5G is expected to flaunt a 6.2-inch display with HDR10+ and feature the Snapdragon 765G SoC with integrated 5G connectivity. The handset is rumoured to pack quad cameras at the back consisting of a 64MP primary sensor. A 32MP pop-up selfie camera is said to be on the front. The Nokia 8.2 price is said to be EUR 459 (around Rs 36,100) for the base variant.
Nokia 5.2 is expected to sport the same 6.2-inch display and pack the Snapdragon 632 SoC, coupled with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. It is said to sport an 8MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. The Nokia 5.2 price will reportedly start at EUR 169 (around Rs 13,300). Lastly, the Nokia 1.3 is said to come with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. All the phones are likely to boot Android 10 out of the box.
