Three mysterious new Nokia phones with Android 10 get Wi-Fi certification

“Three new Nokia phones with model numbers TA-1223, TA-1227 and TA-1229 have been spotted on the Wi-Fi Alliance website”

Three brand new Nokia phones have been spotted on the Wi-Fi Alliance website this week. The phones with model numbers TA-1223, TA-1227 and TA-1229 have appeared on the certification website, where they have been listed running on Android 10. All three smartphones also support dual band wi-fi as well. Beyond this, not much else is known about these Nokia phones. This is the first time we are seeing the TA-1223, TA-1227 and TA-1229 model numbers, so it’s hard to say what Nokia phones we’re looking at.

Considering the model numbers are close to the model numbers of smartphones like the Nokia 6.2 (TA-1201) and Nokia 7.2 (TA-1193), we can speculate that the three new Nokia phones that have showed up on the Wi-Fi Alliance website may fall somewhere close to the Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2 smartphones. That being said, these models could also be related to budget Nokia smartphones like the rumoured Nokia 1.3.

Since these Nokia models are largely mysterious, they could be brand new smartphones that HMD Global plans to announce later this year. In fact, they could also be the smartphones that HMD Global planned to launch at MWC 2020 before the tech trade show got cancelled.

HMD Global was expected to launch its 2020 lineup of feature phones and smartphones at MWC 2020 this month. However, with MWC 2020 now cancelled, the company will likely be holding a standalone event soon to announce its products. While some brands like Xiaomi and Huawei have delayed their launch events to March, we are yet to hear about a new launch date for HMD Global’s Nokia event.

At MWC 2020, HMD Global was rumoured to launch the Nokia 8.2 5G, Nokia 1.3, Nokia 5.2 and Nokia 400 feature phone. It is reported that the Nokia 8.2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 765G SoC and will feature a 64MP quad camera setup. Nokia 5.2 is expected to sport the same 6.2-inch display and pack the Snapdragon 632 SoC.
