“Nokia TA-1184, codenamed Wasp, seems to be a budget-friendly handset with 6.1-inch display, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, and 3.5mm headphone jack”
A new Nokia smartphone with codename Wasp and model number TA-1184 has passed through the FCC. While the exact details regarding the handset are unknown at the moment, the listing reveals the phone might come with a 6.1-inch display, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage configuration and will measure 145.96 x 70.56mm. The phone has been listed in multiple variants, including model numbers TA-1188 and TA-1183. The former was certified by Russia’s Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) recently, while the TA-1183 could be its India- and China-specific variant when it launches.
‘Wasp’ is not a particularly confusing moniker for the upcoming handset considering HMD Global has been using superhero names as codenames for its upcoming smartphones. As per the FCC listing, the smartphone will have dual SIM support, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and will rock a 3.5 mm headphone jack. However, Nokia 8.1 Plus, which was spotted on TENAA and leaked user manual recently also came with the same TA-1188 model number, which is confusing. The purported Nokia 8.1 Plus handset is likely to come with a vertically arranged ZEISS-certified triple rear camera setup at the back, LED flash, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and Nokia branding. It might come with a punch-hole display on the front to accommodate the selfie-camera.
Amidst all the confusion with the HMD Global’s model number, that’s all we anyone can speculate for now about the upcoming Nokia handsets. However, given the specifications, we might be looking at the Nokia 2.2 and Nokia 5.2, successors to the budget-friendly Nokia 2.1 and Nokia 5.1. At the moment, there are no details regarding the launch timeline, so we will have to wait for some more time for something official.
