Carl Pei calls the OnePlus 11 phone “beautiful” and talks about the details of the design that most consumers might be attracted to at first. He talks about the subtle textures of the camera module and how the edges of the phone appear thinner than they actually are.

However, the Nothing CEO shares his share of criticism about the phone’s corner-cutting. This includes how the camera module appears to be connected to the side frame of the phone but isn’t really, and some misaligned button placement. Regardless of this, Pei says that he is impressed with the overall premium feel of the OnePlus 11.

Moving aside from hardware, Carl Pei gets more critical of software. This is apparently the first time he is using OxygenOS since the UI switches over to the codebase of ColorOS. He says that he’s clueless about why the company would take something that worked and mess with it. He also points out some problems such as the usability of the software, opening the app drawer, and text blocks that were designed with Chinese characters in mind.

Concluding the review, Carl Pei says the OnePlus 11 is a great phone but has “no real identity.” Physically, the phone apparently doesn’t have the brand cohesiveness that he looks for when it comes to the companies he supports. Furthermore, the software is also not as polished as he would want despite having numerous helpful functionalities.

Our OnePlus 11 review

Our review of the OnePlus 11 says the phone has a stunning 2K Fluid AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, premium build quality, impressive 100W fast charging support, and a very capable primary camera on the back that can click good photos in most scenarios. On the flip side, the phone doesn’t come with an IP rating, which is a big downgrade considering the price range it is placed. There is some throttling issue, especially under load.
