nubia Play 5G is the latest mid-range gaming-focused smartphone launched in China. It’s the first smartphone in nubia’s Play series, which is said to bring the flagship Red Magic gaming experience to the mid-range price. The all-new nubia Play 5G touts a high 144Hz refresh rate display, which is the same as flagship Red Magic 5G, and is powered by Qualcomm’s upper mid-range Snapdragon 765G 5G chipset. The handset is fueled by an astounding 5,100mAh battery and sports 48MP quad rear cameras. There is an in-display fingerprint scanner for security and a couple of capacitive shoulder buttons for enhanced gaming utility.

The nubia Play 5G price in China starts at RMB 2,400 (~Rs 26,030) for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. The phone also comes in 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage options, which cost RMB 2,700 (~Rs 29,380) and RMB 3,000 (~Rs 32,645) respectively. The Play 5G will available in China from April 24th onwards in black, blue, and white colours.

The nubia Play 5G runs nubiaUI 8.0 on top of Android 10 out of the box. The handset features a 6.65-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a built-in fingerprint scanner. There is no cut-out on the display whatsoever, just classic bezels at the top and bottom. Under the hood lies the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, which is a gaming-centric SoC and comes with 5G modem integrated. The chipset is mated with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage onboard.
nubia Play 5G’s quad rear cameras bear a 48MP Sony IMX582 primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide snapper, and a couple of 2MP shooters – one for macro shots and another for depth data. The front-facing camera comes with a 12MP sensor for selfies and video calling. The entire setup is driven by a 5,100mAh battery, which is backed by 30W fast wired charging support. The phone comes with 5G support, standard connectivity options, and two capacitive shoulder buttons on the right spine.
