Chinese handset maker nubia has now become the third Android handset maker to launch its own gaming-centric smartphone, called Red Magic Phone. The latest launch follows the likes of Razer Phone and Black Shark gaming smartphone launched by the Xiaomi-backed brand that goes by the same name. Just yesterday, we saw the alleged official renders of the Red Magic Phone and now the handset is here for all to see.

Coming to the core specs of the smartphone, it ships with a 5.99-inch 18:9 display bearing a screen resolution of FHD+ (2160×1080 pixels). In the performance department, the gaming handset is backed by the Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. The SoC is mated to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. As for cameras, there is a 24-megapixel camera with LED flash on the rear panel and 8-megapixel selfie shooter on the front. It boots Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and is powered by a 3,800mAh battery. For security, the smartphone features a fingerprint scanner right below the camera module on the back.

Moving on to the gaming features of the Red Magic Phone, nubia has crafted the metal unibody chassis of the device with a beveled rear panel to make it comfortable to hold during long gaming sessions. Additionally, there is a red dedicated gaming button in the top right edge of the phone that learns user preferences and then applies them for better software experience, as per the company. To ensure an optimal thermal conductivity and keeping the phone cool during heavy gaming, nubia has equipped Red Magic with air cooling, carbon nanomaterials, and a three-dimensional wind tunnel section structure. Further, there is an LED RGB strip along the rear spine, to give it the distinguished gaming phone look.

nubia is offering the smartphone in a single black hue with red trimmings. The new smartphone will be made available via crowd-funding platform Indiegogo at $399 for a limited time starting April 26th. In China, the handset has been priced at CNY 2,499 for 6GB RAM, 64GB internal storage variant and 2,999 Yuan for 8GB RAM, 128GB internal storage.
