nubia Red Magic Mars with up to 10GB RAM and dedicated gaming buttons launched: price, specifications

ZTE-owned brand nubia has launched the Red Magic Mars, its second-generation gaming smartphone, at an event in China. The new nubia Red Magic Mars smartphone comes with a few upgrades over the original Red Magic model, such as the Snapdragon 845 SoC, shoulder buttons, up to 10GB of RAM, and ICE cooling system. It joins the growing ranks of gaming smartphones, such as Black Shark Helo, Razer Phone 2, ASUS ROG Phone, Honor Play, etc.

The nubia Red Magic Mars price starts at RMB 2,699 (roughly Rs 27,300) for the model with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. The variants with 8GB + 128GB and 10GB + 256GB variants cost RMB 3,199 (approximately Rs 32,300) and RMB 3,699 (about Rs 37,300), respectively. Fans can book the smartphone in Meteorite Black and Frame Red colour options; there will also be a special Camouflage version with the back panel in military print. The company also announced the compatible gamepad, earphones, phone cover, and an adapter to use the 3.5mm earphones for the handset, priced at RMB 499 (~Rs 5,300), RMB 299 (~Rs 3,300), RMB 99 (~Rs 1,000), and Rs 699 (~Rs 7,200), respectively.

The nubia Red Magic Mars smartphone has a 6-inch display with full-HD+ resolution (1,080 x 2,160 pixels) and boots Android 9 Pie-based Red Magic OS 1.6 custom software. It is powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC and comes with a dual-pipe liquid cooling technology called ICE that the company claims can reduce the CPU core temperature by 13.2-degree Celsius to improve the performance by 70 percent. There is also a three-layer graphene heat dissipation film, metal back with honeycomb structure, and four-way wind convection to ensure the phone stays cool during extended gaming sessions. The smartphone comes with up to 10GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.

On the back is a single RGB strip that can flash six effects — namely Sky, Iridescent, Laser, Rhythm, Aurora, Interstellar — as per the scenario and can be customised as well. The phone has a dedicated esports button that can restrict notifications for an uninterrupted gaming session, while its touch-sensitive shoulder buttons called Mars Triggers can be used as controls in games. It also has 4D Shock for haptic feedback while playing games. The nubia Red Magic Mars comes with a USB Type-C port for earphones but buyers can buy the optional adapter to use earphones with the 3.5mm earphone jack; this adapter has a high quality DAC.

As for the cameras, the new nubia smartphone has a 16-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture on the back and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter in the front.
