“OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5 will get the Android Pie-based Open Beta software version will be released soon, the company said on the official forum”
The Android 9 Pie-based OxygenOS beta is about to become available for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users across the globe, the company has confirmed. This comes soon after the Android Pie-based HydrogenOS was released; the Chinese version of the handset comes with HydrogenOS while the rest of the world gets OxygenOS. This announcement by OnePlus will be welcomed by the owners of the 2017 smartphones who have been waiting for the latest version of Android on the handset.
“Some of you may have noticed that it has been 3 weeks since the last Open Beta build for OnePlus 5/5T. We’d like to shed some light that [Android] Pie for 5/5T is almost out for Open Beta. Patience and love are all we need at this stage, as we don t have to keep staring at the oven when it’s on,” OnePlus wrote on its community forum.
To give you a background, the HydrogenOS 9.0 beta for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T added the much expected full-screen gestures and Android Pie-based interface icons, call UI interface, redesigned weather app, among other things. The recently launched OnePlus 6T got the Android P build out-of-the box, while OnePlus 6 too received it soon after.
OnePlus 6T even received the new OxygenOS 9.0.6 update recently, which optimised its image processing capabilities and standby power consumption, plus improved the unlocking experience on the smartphone. Apart from this, the update included general bug fixes and improvements to enhance the overall user experience. OnePlus is really putting a lot of attention and focus towards its in-display fingerprint scanner, which is being constantly enhanced with subsequent software updates.
