“The newly-launched OnePlus 5T becomes the fastest selling device for the brand in just 6 hours”

The latest flagship from OnePlus – 5T (review) went up for early access sale on November 21st on Amazon India, OnePlus online store and multiple pop-up events across the globe. OnePlus has now reported that in just 6 hours, the latest flagship has become the fastest selling smartphone ever from the brand.

With early access sale on OnePlus store and Amazon in India, the brand started selling the device to selected buyers and for those who didn’t have the privilege, could head to their nearest pop-up event to get their hands on one. OnePlus organised these pop-up events in multiple cities across the globe, including Amsterdam, Belfast, Berlin, Copenhagen, Helsinki, London, Milan and Paris. In India, the pop-up events were held at Bengaluru and New Delhi. However – no matter the location – the response has been overwhelming all over, with the device selling out fast.

On Amazon, the OnePlus 5T became the highest grossing product even for the Prime members. In fact, even before the early access sale, the device witnessed keen interest from consumers, as almost double the users subscribed to the sale notification on Amazon.in as compared to the signing up for the alerts of its predecessor – the OnePlus 5.

To recall, the OnePlus 5T was launched in New York on November 16th at a simulcast event. The handset basically brought the innards of the OnePlus 5 in a new bezel-less, 18:9 form factor where the fingerprint scanner has been moved to the rear panel. Moreover, the 5T is the first from the brand to come with a 6.01-inch full HD+ Optic AMOLED display featuring 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 5 on top.

Talking about specs, the device is powered by a 2.45GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, mated to an Adreno 540 GPU. The device comes in two RAM and storage variants – 6GB + 64GB and 8GB + 128GB. It boots Android 7.1.1 Nougat based Oxygen OS out of the box and is powered by a 3,300mAh battery with Dash Charge technology.

OnePlus has also played around with the dual camera module as now the secondary 20MP sensor in 16MP + 20MP setup on the rear is no longer a telephoto unit, but comes with the same aperture of f/1.7 and a focal length of 27.22mm as the primary sensor. On the front is a 16MP selfie shooter with an aperture of f/2.0 and 1,080p video recording support.

Notably, the device is slated to go on open sale in India starting November 28th on Amazon India. It has been priced at Rs 32,999 and Rs 37,999 for 64GB and 128GB, respectively. However, for the fans, the brand has scheduled a special preview sale on Amazon.in and OnePlusstore.in on November 24th between 12 to 1pm. The sale will be open to everyone and buyers will be able to avail enticing offers such as an instant discount of Rs 1,500 on HDFC Bank cards, bundled 4G data from Idea, and accidental damage protection for a year among others.
